EU、英国の閣僚が小樽港にて世界初の液化水素運搬船「すいそふろんてぃあ」を視察

先日札幌で開催されたG 7気候・エネルギー・環境相会合で、世界初の液化水素運搬船「すいそふろんてぃあ」が小樽港で公開され、シェルを含むHySTRA※の参画企業が西村康稔経済産業大臣、国立研究開発法人新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発機構（NEDO）の斎藤保理事長、ＥＵのカドリ・シムソン欧州委員（エネルギー担当）、英国のグラント・シャップスエネルギー安全保障・ネットゼロ大臣をお迎えし、船内を視察いただきました。

シェルは2016年からHySTRA事業に参画しており、STASCO（Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited ）による液化水素運搬船の安全な海上輸送を担っています。昨年4月、液化水素の長距離海上輸送実証試験において、「すいそふろんてぃあ」が豪州で製造された水素を積載し神戸港へ帰港したことで日豪間でのサプライチェーンが完遂しました。当実証試験で得られた貴重な経験を技術の規模を拡大する次の段階に生かし、大陸間液体水素輸送という新興市場において先駆的な取り組みを行ってゆきたいと考えています。

水素は、炭素排出量を実質ゼロにする取り組みを推進するために重要な役割を果たすと考えています。シェルは、水素の生産、貯蔵、パイプライン経由の輸送、海上輸送、エンドユーザ―向けソリューションなどを含む水素サプライチェーン全体において事業機会があると認識しており、世界における水素市場で主導的な役割を果たすことを目指しています。

EU, UK ministers visited the world's first liquefied hydrogen carrier, Suiso Frontier, at Otaru port

G7 Ministers who attended the meeting on climate, energy and environment in Sapporo, visited the the Suiso Frontier, world's first liquefied hydrogen carrier, at the Port of Otaru. The partner companies of HySTRA *, including Shell, welcomed Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Tamotsu Saito, President of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simpson, and Grant Shapps, UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, to visit the vessel.

As part of HySTRA, Shell is operating the Suiso Frontier on voyages between Japan and Australia, with focus on operational efficiency and safety. This represents a key step in demonstrating the feasibility of liquefied hydrogen shipping.

The valuable experience gained from the HySTRA demonstration project is being applied in the next stage of scaling the technology, positioning Shell and its partners as a key movers in the emerging market of intercontinental liquified hydrogen transport.

Hydrogen has a critical role to play in helping the world reach net zero emissions. Shell sees opportunities across the hydrogen supply chain, including the production, storage, transport via pipelines, shipping of hydrogen and end-customer solutions. Shell is actively playing its role in helping establish a global hydrogen economy. Our intent is to be a leading player in the global hydrogen market.
